What a big success today's event was!!!
We registered TWENTY voters - 6 of whom were newly-eligible, 17-year-old voters. But 3 of whom were well over 18, but had just never been interested before.
There are so many photos, we need 3 different carousels to display them all!
This was our best high school yet! It was the only school where we had clusters of kids coming up to our table to proactively register to vote.
Of course some kids needed to be coaxed - so we brought our clipboards to them in the lunchroom!
We registered 65 kids at South Shore Int'l Prep!
Julia was invited to speak to the juniors at GCE Lab School about the intersection of activism and rhetoric - ie, how do you convince somebody to participate in democracy?
We were too busy talking to take any pics - but 3 students registered to vote!
If you haven't been to Boxville yet, it's a popup entrepreneurial venture at the 51st St Green Line station that was featured recently on Block Club Chicago.

The first time I went was with West Side organizer, Crystal Gardner. We found out that Ebony's launch was on the 18th so we decided to go back and register voters!
We registered 31, 17-year-olds today at King Prep High School.

This vigil on the one-year anniversary of the death of John Lewis was also an opportunity to unveil a new art installation by artist Maxwell Emcays.
We were led in prayer by leaders of 3 faiths, and heard moving words from many voting rights activists.

Ballot-Z staffed a table for 4 straight days of the festival, from 9am - 7pm. A Herculean effort!!
Altogether at Lollapalooza, we registered 15 voters in person and got 45 hits to our website via our QR code. Maybe all of them registered to vote too?? :-)

All these voters promised to vote in the next election: the Illinois primary in June of 2022.
